Aaron Rodgers never met with Steelers despite rumor-filled weekend as QB's decision remains up in air
Rodgers Skips Steelers Meeting Amid Rumors, Future Uncertain
Aaron Rodgers did not meet with the Pittsburgh Steelers despite reports of a planned visit last Friday. Adam Schefter told ESPN's "The Pat McAfee Show" on Monday that neither the team nor Rodgers' agent knew of any scheduled discussions. The quarterback's decision on his future remains unresolved.
Reports from the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review placed Rodgers in Pittsburgh over the weekend, while 93.7 The Fan said he was there for golf. Schefter expects Rodgers on the Steelers' depth chart by training camp, despite the uncertainty. The team applied an unrestricted free-agent tender to Rodgers last month, giving Pittsburgh the right to match outside offers.
In 2025, Rodgers threw for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions over 16 games, leading the Steelers to a 10-7 record and a playoff berth. Pittsburgh lost to the Houston Texans in the wild-card round, extending its playoff winless streak to eight seasons. The Steelers open organized team activities next Monday.
Pittsburgh enters 2026 with new coach Mike McCarthy, previously Rodgers' head coach in Green Bay, replacing Mike Tomlin after 19 seasons. The team added receiver Michael Pittman Jr. from Indianapolis and drafted Alabama's Germie Bernard, while bringing in running back Rico Dowdle to pair with Jaylen Warren.
